If my running shoes look brand spanking new, it's because they are--even though I bought them almost a year and a half ago when I started training for the 2008 Las Vegas Marathon. I also wore these last spring when I started training for the 2009 New York Marathon. Obviously, when I say "training," I mean "run two miles on the treadmill every other day for one week, then abandon marathon plans." Thus, the shoes I purchased from Fleet Feet in June 2008 had been worn maybe six times until two weeks ago.
I'm proud to report that I'm starting week three of my half marathon training program. I was exhausted by just the idea of running over 26 miles, and it was impossible to train for an event that I dreaded. Thirteen miles may prove to be my lucky number.
